Had quite a treat this afternoon whilst out on the river just below Cwmrheidol dam the sky was quite awash with Swallows, Martins and the odd Swift feeding avidly above the avenue of trees bordering the river when a Hobby burst onto the scene just above the tree line in hot pursuit of a Swallow what then transpired was the best falconry display I have ever seen with the birds dipping and diving to avoid their arch enemy; over the next 45 minutes the bird returned three times to try its luck emptying the skies of all the feeding birds each time. First time I have seen a Hobby around here and what a treat to see the bird in action.
