There was quite a big movement
of Swifts over the weekend from Scandinavia many large groups were seen over the
UK moving south. I had a group of 12+ over the house yesterday (Sunday) they fed with the
Martins over the nearby woods for a while before continuing south. My last Swift
youngster fledged this afternoon after 49 days the other left at 46 days (in the
dark) 42 days is more the norm perhaps the weather had an adverse effect ?. The
parent birds also appear to have left as they failed to return tonight There was
also a big movement of Swallows on Saturday many left the area.
