Ynyslas

A very enjoyable hour was spent after work last night at Ynyslas point. Thousands of manx shearwaters were feeding off the mouth of the estuary along with 150 gannets and about 300 kittiwakes. There were 468 sandwich terns loafing on the sandbanks with more feeding off-shore. The highlight though were four arctic skuas harrying the kittiwakes and terns; three light phase adults and a juvenile. Despite looking, and with rather poor light, I too failed to find any Balearic shearwaters.
