Ynyslas

Good flock of waders at Ynyslas this morning and due to a combination of the summer holidays being over and heavy showers there wasn't anybody there to disturb the birds. The bulk of the flock was made up of dunlin, ringed plovers and sanderling with a couple of turnstones and bar tailed godwits thrown in for good measure. 60+ knot were a real highlight. Over 400 sandwich terns were a fantastic sight, especially when a juv peregrine periodically put them all to flight. A pale phase Arctic Skua was terrorising terns and gulls in the mouth of the estuary. The only slight down side was receiving a text from HP informing me of the L-t Skua that he had just seen of New Quay.
