Dippers and Kestrel at Llansantffraed

I was very pleased to see two Dippers on the river Peris this morning, under the church bridge.

I also enjoyed spectacular views of a male Kestrel from the grassy area at the mouth of the river. It was hovering quite close to the ground and virtually above me. It then dived into some scrub and flew past me a few seconds later, holding a mouse or vole in its talons. It landed half way up the grassy bank on the south side of the area. I ventured a little closer and stopped about ten yards away to watch him tucking in. After a few seconds I left so that he could relax for the remainder of his meal.
