Cross Inn Forest and Tregaron Bog yesterday

Good views of the usual suspects- warblers whitethroats mistle thrush and amorous g.s. woodpeckers. In the peaty pools under the conifers near the parking area I saw a great diving beetle on the prowl. We came across a certain Mr Pepper who mentioned the cuckoo activity up the track. We had great views of two birds that seemed unconcerned with the human presence.
Later at Tregaron a lot of swift activity over the Talbot followed by a swift entry into the bar.
We visited the north end of the bog in the afternoon (Ystrad Meurig) . There was a cuckoo calling there in the distance. There was a lot of sand martin activity around the bridge over the Teifi.
