I have been looking at what is being done for swifts. There is a lot on the following RSPB location, including downloads for homeowners and LAs. This includes brick nests. I doubt whether the following has filtered down to developers.
With new residential developments good practice, generally accepted by key stakeholders,
is a ratio of one roosting/nesting cavity or integral nest brick per residential unit and most
commercial industrial and public buildings will offer similar opportunities. Having adequate
public and private green space within the built environment is a key feature for ensuring the
health and wellbeing of the new residents as well as the flora and fauna that should occupy
our parks and gardens. See the case studies on our helpswifts pages for examples of
projects that have catered for urban wildlife around the UK.
