The early bird

I glanced out of the window at 6.00 this morning to see a Sparrowhawk flying past, clutching some unfortunate little bird in its talons.
The tide was well in at Aberystwyth,  with no rock exposed at Castle Point, but on College rocks were eight Turnstones, two Ringed Plover and at least six Common Sandpipers (I could see four together but at least two others were calling, but I couldn't find them).
Tanybwlch doesn't seem to attract waders these days, and today was no exception.  I had to be content with five Wheatears, a Goosander and a small passage of Sand Martins.
