Errrrrrrrr....what was that?

At work this morning I had a close encounter with a Red-legged Partridge in Brynhoffnant. The bird was on the concrete driveway/garden of a house immediately next to the coast road. As I approached the front door it ran right past me, leaped the front wall and shot across into the fields opposite. A few years ago I had an almost identical encounter just around the corner at a house on the Rhydlewis road. Am I right in thinking this is a bit odd?
