Grey Phalaropes at Ynyslas

Chris Bird was at Ynyslas for the high tide yesterday afternoon, hoping to see if the American Wigeon was still around.
In the event, only 10 Wigeon present, with five Pintail, nine Dunlin, seven Grey Plover and a dark-bellied Brent Goose.  Up the estuary was a flock of 250-300 Lapwings.
Then a party of four small pale waders flew in.  One of them landed on the water at the Leri mouth, in view, and the other three landed nearby, out of sight behind the spartina but Chris reckons also on the water.
The birds then got up and flew off up the Leri, but not before he had noted the dark mask.
Brief views in poor light, but Chris has previous form with multiple Grey Phalaropes.
I'm sure that many of us enjoyed the four that he found on the flooded field at Tanybwlch in mid-December 2000.
