Ynys-hir

A short seawatch at Aberystwyth brought my first Arctic Skua, then it was off to Ynys-hir to meet up with Bob and John.
After a Common Sandpiper on the pool by the car park we headed to the Ynys Feurig hide for the high tide. Not a lot on the Breakwater fields, but just over the railway the tide brought up at least 50 Whimbrel with a few Curlews.  Five Bar-tailed Godwits flew upriver and out near the remains of the old hide were up to 21 Sandwich Terns.
Around five Wheatears worked their way along the railway.
Near Ynys Edwin on the way back we had fairly brief and distant views of a large, slow flying egret which could only have been the Great White which has been around. Then over the river an Osprey carrying a fish was being mobbed by three gulls. It  appeared unconcerned and continued to gain height as it passed overhead.
