Cattle Egrets

As Bob has previously reported - there were still 6 Cattle Egrets on the Ynys Tachwedd fields this morning. In spite of being a fine morning, the high wind prevented any good photographs being taken - as well as the birds being ' a little bit close to a long way off'! however here is one more for the record.

It would appear from the records, that this is only the second time Cattle Egrets have been seen in the county. In 2008 a solitary bird was recorded in the Dolybont/Llandre area. It remained until May 11th - it will be interesting  to see as to how long the current 'herd' stay here. Perhaps we may see a resident population established in the area - a further example of Southern European birds moving north in response to climate change.
