Canada Goose movements

As I was birding on the coast at Llanrhystud and Llanon yesterday there was a passage of Canada Geese offshore; three parties totalling 54, all heading south.

This morning at Aberystwyth a distant flock of at least 45 birds also went south.  Too far out for positive i.d. but I'm pretty sure they were also Canadas.

Helen has just contacted me to say her raptor this morning was most likely a f/imm Merlin.
