When returning from Aber this afternoon, travelling north along the main road, over the top of Penglais Hill we were surprised to follow a Merlin for about 200m, flying in the characteristic low level darting manner of this our smallest raptor. The snow on the hills must have suggested it was time to depart for the snow free coastal lowland.
