ABERYSTWYTH HARBOUR

Starting a walk to Tanybwlch this afternoon I only got a few yards from home when I realised that a Chough was foraging by the path near the harbour entrance. I was only a small handful of yards away yet it took no notice of me.
After many minutes it hopped up onto a concrete block before returning to feed.
After another long period of feeding it walked over to a puddle for a drink.
A second Chough appeared and twice settled beside the other bird but it was not as bold and kept its distance for most of the time.
The original bird then moved to the other side of me and showed itself in much better light conditions and was only a few feet away. By this time a birdwatcher from the south of the County had joined me and was also enjoying this close encounter with the Chough.
Both birds were ringed and I had chosen not to take my scope with me and so could not read the numbers on them. However I will send the colour combinations to Adrienne Stratford.
