A perfect night with no wind, warm temperatures and good insect numbers
resulted in three separate nightjars on the wing at the T junction. We also
heard other individuals on the walk into the forest from the Cross Inn
entrance. Fabulous birds to watch - quite mesmerising. If anyone heads up there
at this time of day though, be warned, wear insect repellent or be eaten alive!
The pic is not great as it was 10pm and almost dark and I was at ISO 128000 but
is still the best shot of a nightjar I’ve got.
