Saturday's field trip

Nine of us had beautiful weather for our walk from Aberaeron to
Llanerchaeron yesterday.

The list of birds seen and heard was: mallard, heron, buzzard, kite,
swift, great spotted woodpecker, swallow, house martin, pied wagtail,
grey wagtail, dipper, wren, dunnock, robin, redstart, blackbird, mistle
thrush, song thrush, blackcap, garden warbler, goldcrest, chiffchaff,
pied flycatcher, coal tit, blue tit, great tit, nuthatch, treecreeper,
jay, magpie, jackdaw, crow, chaffinch, and goldfinch. Many thanks to
Andrew for leading the walk.

In the afternoon I went for a walk on the coastal path by the Aberaeron
caravan park and saw oystercatcher, herring gull, starling, rook, house
sparrow, whitethroat, a pair of stonechat feeding young, and plenty of
linnets. The sunshine brought out lots of butterflies too- orange tip,
green veined white and tortoiseshell.
