Ynyslas/Ynys-hir yesterday

At Ynyslas about lunchtime there were a couple of gannets close in at the mouth of the estuary. Towards the point there were 19 sandwich terns and 5 med. gulls (four adults and one sub-adult.).

At the Ynyshir hide (at Ynyshir....)  a few purple hairstreak butterflies were whizzing around the treetops very fast and very erratically, and if you were lucky one would land for a while and you could see the underside of its wings.

There was also a flock of small birds including some juvenile siskins and willowchiffs, also treecreeper, nuthatch and a spotted flycatcher. A wood warbler was singing half-heartedly nearby
