Llanrhystud, etc

There was no sign of a phalarope during early morning visits to Llanrhystud yesterday and Sunday.  There were 44 Mallard and at least 55 Curlews on the flood on Sunday, nothing yesterday though a strong passage of Linnets, Meadow Pipits and alba wagtails was in progress when I arrived.
On the beach were 24 Ringed Plovers, 17 Turnstones and two Dunlin and towards Llansantffraed was a flock of ca45 Golden Plover.
Thanks to a text from  Ed I was later able to enjoy the Woodchat Shrike at Ynyslas.  Chris turned up and told me he had two Wheatears near Llyn Fanod on Sunday. On his way home yesterday he called at Aberystwyth and found 12 Med Gulls and two Sandwich Terns.
The Moorhens on his brother's pond have increased to seven, one of which was seen entering the hen house for a feed.
