New Quay

There was a pair of eider at Llanina point yesterday morning (26th).
Behind my house on the Coybal road there is a field of turnips heavily ‘infested’ with sorrel that and it’s become a seedeater’s magnet with large numbers of linnet, goldfinch, house sparrows and chaffinch. Also seen were a small number of reed buntings and a single brambling. The field has also attracted raptors including the local sparrowhawk, a kestrel that was seen taking a bird and a pair of buzzards. I was surprised to see one of the buzzards having a go ( unsuccessfully).
