A diminished girls' group went to Cross Inn yesterday to look for a possible returning Shrike but to no avail though the search was a bit half hearted given the cold miserable conditions and a niggling breeze keeping the smaller birds down. A detour up to Chris Bird's lakes was even colder though Eiddwen held a Goldeneye female, 3 Goosander and a female Shoveler with but keeping apart from a small gang of mallard and Teal. At Fanod there were 15 Cormorants loafing on the rocks.
