After seeing Andre's report of Lapland Bunting I went to Llanrhystud on Tuesday afternoon. Bumped into Aline who'd had no luck but had seen Arfon who had just found a Snow Bunting. We joined forces but no luck, so later I walked past the flooded field (41 Turnstones on beach).
Searching the stubble fields where there were 50 plus Meadow Pipits and 19 Skylarks I finally came across a Lapland Bunting on a fence.
Really
pleasant walk up to and beyond the lime kilns at Llanrystud yesterday highlighted by
superb aerial display from c325 golden plover off the point and then as they
settled with the glorious autumn sunshine reflecting off their feathers at
midday.
On my way home last night I was lucky enough to spot a Barn Owl in the headlights. Watched it for a few minutes until it flew off.
