Highlights of a walk along the old railway in Llanilar this morning were two pairs of Goosanders on the Ystwyth about a mile east of the village and my first Stock Dove of the year.
A little detour across the footbridge and looking to the north-east I could see a very large number of gulls settled a few fields away. Most of them appeared to be Hering Gulls but there were a couple of Black-headed in the air. I counted at least 900 but the fields were partially obscured by trees and hedgerows so there must have been well over a thousand.
