Llanrhystud beach

There were 4 godwits towards the back of the flooded field this morning, plus 2 grey plover and 6 teal at the edge of the flood-water. The rain and wind prevented good views of the godwits, but as Andre Marsh saw 3 bar-tailed earlier in the week it’s likely they were the same birds. If the weather improves this weekend I’ll have a better look, and put into practice my ID skills from a recent  BTO Wildfowl and Wader course (thoroughly recommended, even if it did fail to cover the finer points of godwit ID while clinging to a fence post in gale force winds!)

There was also a turnstone on the beach with a yellow ring plus a red tag (labelled LPK) on it’s left leg.
