Mara and myself popped up to check on a few things this morning and take a stroll. Fresh pellets under the box entrance showed that Barn Owls are present but since we are not allowed to look inside we don't know if they are breeding. No sign of the pair of Willow Tits that were present when the feeders were being topped up regularly. We saw 27 species, which wasn't too bad, and included 3 Pied Flycatchers and 6 Blackcaps. Numbers of Pied Flys have gone right down in recent years but hopefully at least 2 or 3 more will turn up before the end of the month. A lot of the boxes looked damaged and in disrepair. Wish I'd thought to check them over the winter. I'll ask Mara if there is any money to replace them.
