Ynyslas-Borth-Llanrhystud

Started off at Ynyslas this morning, but soon gave in to the force 9 easterly coming down the estuary. 5 Pale-bellied Brent Geese in the rocks on the beach and a male Merlin battling north over the shoreline were all I could manage.

I then drove to Borth lifeboat station where the wind wasn’t as bad and enjoyed a decent northerly passage of Goldinches (315), Linnets (126) and Meadow Pipits (288). A Pink-footed Goose flew north offshore, as did a Kestrel.

Onto Llanrhystud where a Little Ringed Plover was hunkered down on the flooded field. A passage of migrants continued with 1 House Martin, 12 Swallows and 30 Sand Martins passing north. 3 Wheatears and 2 White Wagtails were present also.
