Gwbert spit Friday 10th Sept

Luckily the tide was so high and mist and drizzle so discouraging that the dog walkers were absent for the vital hour of high tide yesterday so I watched 80+ Ringed Plover, c50 Dunlin, 13 Sanderling, 1 Knot and a lone calling whimbrel on the stones at the end of the spit. Dogmaels side was being disturbed by fishermen and dog walkers so all sought refuge in Cere!  3 Sandwich terns were present also but no stint!

Eventually a jack russell arrived but its owner was very pleasant even though I had initially hollared at him full volume to stop and turn round.  He couldn't see the birds as they were so hunkered down and camouflaged amongst the pebbles.
