A few people have commented to me that it is a shame that there has been no standing water recently in the field. I can now report that a small amount of surface water was present this morning. Alas, no birds, not even a Pied Wagtail, graced its muddy fringes. Only birds of note were 8 Sandwich Terns. Very quiet. Almost busier yesterday at Long Wood where 5 Chiffchaffs (3 singing, 2 calling) were still lingering in just a part of the site.
