An excellent morning at the Mallard hide - until the young mums with the freelance children arrived..........
At least four water rails were seen, there were at least two flying visits
from kingfishers, and the ring-necked duck was still present.
The best bird for me was a jack snipe. It was keeping a very low profile
but occasionally walked or fluttered a short distance. Some of the time you
could just see it bobbing but a lot of the time it seemed to be asleep.
