Not as good as a Hoopoe and not even the next best thing, but only my second ever Ceredigion sighting of a Green Woodpecker earlier was totally out of the blue. I was driving home after a walk, flushing good numbers of Fieldfares/Redwings from the side of the road, then noticed one looked a little different. Bright green in fact. Conveniently, it landed in a larch tree without any needles not far away. Then, after a few minutes, back my way into the ribbon of woodland along Nant Clywedog Uchaf, where I lost track of it but heard it call very briefly. Grid ref 644515
