Sightings from the Bennetts

Started at Llanrystud;  female wheatear around the muck pile  little flock of 8 linnets ,just two sand martin, couple of shelduck on the flooded fiel. Big flock of gulls moving from sea to fields where we picked out one handsome adult med gull amongst the many b-headed.

Moved to Borth lifeboat station. Only thing on sea were approx 12 common scoter in two pods,on to red brick house where single pod of 7 scoter were all that was seen.
Moved onto Ynyslas tern posts things improved when first a flock of 26 golden plover dropped in front of us in varying plumage.a couple of little egrets  and 23 wigeon,  but a pair of R-b merganser in the general area of mouth of the Leri were a highlight.  Male was in full breeding plumage and was in full display mode.the goldies wee joined by another 21 as we were leaving.

Sunday 3rd April
Managed to climb up the coast path past the fish factory and on to the viewing point via bird rock.  Splendid pair of chough,best nos we've seen for couple of years of guillemot,razorbills and kittiwake and also a best no.of 6 shag including 2 juveniles.

managed to find ewan,s long staying water pipit plenty of mipitslinnet,,stonechat pair and fine male wheatear in challenging conditions.
Later had a short walk down river at Aberaeron which produced pied and grey wags, treecreeper,the mandarin with a pair of dipper the highlight including a display from the male which included him singing which none of us had heard before.
