On two recent 4 hour wildlife trips with Seamor out of New Quay on the 11th
August and yesterday (14th August) we had great views of thousands of auks -
predominantly razorbills rafting and feeding off Mwnt and into Aberporth Bay.
They were accompanied at times by Manx shearwaters and diving gannets. On the
11th we had close views of a group of Common Scoter just off New Quay. Yesterday
we had a Balearic shearwater flying in a SSW direction past the boat in
Aberporth Bay, the sighting was about 2 miles directly north of Aberporth, about
1.5 miles off Ynys Lochtyn. Back on land a starling in Aberaeron was singing
loudly from the top of a yacht mast, enjoying his own personal air cooling unit,
a spinning anemometer.
