New places

Went exploring this morning in some woodlands that I see when I'm working but which I have never been to. The first area was in the quite extensively wooded valley below Llangynllo. I managed to get around a bit but eventually the footpaths heading both north and south were blocked by fallen trees. A Marsh Tit was singing at 348440 in the midst of great looking mature deciduous woodland. Here too were 2 Woodcocks and several dozen Redwings. I also visited some woods along Afon Cwerchyr which runs down to Penrhiwllan but with less luck and the path I was on was again blocked by trees.

On Wednesday I was amazed to see a Hummingbird Hawkmoth in a garden in Penrhiwllan. Presumably, this one had successfully hibernated, which is happening more and more from what I've read.
