A seawatch from castle point on Saturday resulted in my first whimbrel of the year, heading north along with a total of 7 sandwich terns. Apart from that, the only other bird on the sea was a single red-throated diver. 2 house martins and 18 sand martins flew south along with 92 goldfinches and 60 linnets.
Today started with two common sandpipers in the harbour, followed by a whimbrel on the Tan-y-bwlch flooded fields. A walk up Allt Wen produced 16 swallows, 2 house martins and a sand martin. But the star bird was a fantastic male ring ouzel at the top, seen briefly before flying north towards Aber. this was followed shortly after by a tree pipit heading north and a 3rd common sand calling bellow.
