A walk first thing this morning yielded very low numbers of birds compared with last year but some compensation in the form of Roe Deer and Brown Hare. 2023 in brackets; Cuckoo 1(5), Wood Warbler 2(8), Tree Pipit 5(10), Crossbill 3(3), Garden Warbler 3(13). Not sure why this was the case. Perhaps I just didn't have my ears tuned in correctly. LBB Gulls were flying about the tops of the hills (non breeding birds?). There were Swifts present at Bont and Tregaron as I drove through. Fortunately, I'm able to operate my eyes individually like a Chameleon, and so was able to make a very rough estimate of numbers without crashing into any parked cars. About 8 at Bont and maybe a dozen or more at Tregaron?
