An old familiar face at Llanrhystud

Not one of the regular contributors to this blog but the "leucistic" Oystercatcher that has been returning to this stretch of coast for about 20 years. My first sighting last year was on the 7th of August. However, I don't always see it this early in the autumn. Perhaps it goes undetected along an unwatched stretch of coast not far away ( I don't think it has been seen at Aberaeron?). I believe it's origins are also unknown to us. Maybe the date of it's arrival is a clue as to whether it is a UK or overseas bird. I don't know.

Otherwise, quite quiet, with small numbers of waders, passerines and little offshore activity, plus 40 or so Med Gulls loafing on the sea.
