Friday
Expecting another good sea watch at the brick house this morning at
0645 the sea was rather choppy and the numbers of shearwaters was well down
compared to yesterday. Around 500 Manx shearwaters was disappointing after such
an early start. 53 Mediterranean gulls fishing offshore and 76 sandwich terns
and two common terns the highlights.
At the Leri mouth at high tide all I could find were 32 ringed
plovers, 86 dunlin, a sanderling, a pristine summer plumaged turnstone and two
whimbrel.
