A seawatch from the brickhouse

Ynyslas

At the brickhouse at 1530 and then sea-watched for two hours. A surprising number of birds steadily moving north in the NW winds. Totals moving north were 2200 common gulls, 620 kittiwakes, 468 Mediterranean gulls, 470 Black-headed gulls and 321 gannets. Around 2000 auks moved through including a luckily close puffin, a Leach's petrel briefly danced above the waves before disappearing and four arctic skuas flew north. Only one tern (a commic).
Lots of gannets diving and masses of auks on the sea so must be plenty of small fish in the bay.
