RING-NECKED DUCK

Chris Bird has done it again! I was at Cwmrheidol a couple of days ago and saw nothing. This afternoon he sees a female Ring-necked Duck on the dam lake. We wondered if it is the one which was there earlier in the year before the big freeze.
This morning the high tide at Aberystwyth, whipped up by the gale force north-easterly wind, caused the closure of the road beyond South Marine Terrace. I have never seen the sea smashing with such force onto the prom by the lifeboat station and even in the harbour entrance on either side of the Ystwyth bridge. Offshore; several Gannets, Kittewakes and Fulmars.
