More Swallows, Shrike - and Fieldfares

Groups of swallows noted at Blaenplwyf, Rhydowen and Llanwnnen this afternoon; also kites very much in evidence at various localities. This evening at Cross Inn Forest, the Great Grey Shrike was still sitting in the evening sun as it went down at 7.45pm. Nearby a group of 4 Fieldfares sat around the top of a youngish Sitka spruce, adorning it like Christmas decorations - before disappearing into the foliage to roost (there may well have been more birds within the dense branches already).

My lunchtime visit to the Osprey project yesterday (Tues) fortunately coincided with a 20 minute visit to the nest by the/a female bird. Nearby, a male Hen Harrier was hunting over the Meirionydd bank opposite Domen las hide, viewed from near Glandyfi station house. Pair of Stonechats by the railway here.
