YNYS-HIR

We've just got back from Ynyshir where we had exceptionally good views of a Hen Harrier, perching on a bush and then in flight. Later we saw a Red Kite, a Raven and the pale Buzzard that Russell Jones reported, all showing great interest in a Canada Goose carcase by the estuary, and at the end of our walk there was a female Brambling on the feeder, in amongst the usual finches, tits, nuthatches and Greater Spotted Woodpecker - apparently there is a pair of Brambling on the reserve at present.
Yesterday at about 16:45 a Buzzard was on the highest tower of the Old College building, eyeing up its potential starling supper. Three Jackdaws successfully drove it off, but a few minutes later it flew back past the Pier and, we think, got its starling before settling on College Rocks to consume it.
