beached bird survey

The recent storms have driven boulders and pebbles up to the base of the cliffs south of Llansantffraid so not a feather to be seen and fortunately the plastic waste has been buried. Towards Aberarth the very soft cliffs are continuing to erode at a rapid rate and scouring has removed any rubbish and any bird remains so it was a nil return this year.
Fortunately the living birds showed up! A pere female chased onto the cliff face by an imm herring gull was surprising, pair of fulmars prospecting along the grassy ledges occupied by about 40 pairs of herring gulls, a pair of stonechats near Morfa Mawr, and a full breeding kit cormorant also holding a ledge. Overhead 2 chough and at sea a distant r t diver and great crested grebe. Didn't have time to search the gull flock.
