On the subject of Woodpigeons I thought there were more around this year than ever; the two flat fields at the bottom of my garden which lie on the valley floor and are subject to regular flooding are frequented nearly every day by between 150 and 200 birds on occasions even more. Whatever the pigeons are finding attractive to eat is also enjoyed by the gulls as they also number many hundreds on some days. I can’t fathom out what they are feeding on as the fields are just grass stubble grazed by sheep?
