Thanks for the responses re the large raptor in Aberaeron. The Harris Hawk was discounted since it is tethered (why bring such a bird to work...?) - allegedly it was attacked and injured by a dog a day or so ago. Re the suggestion of a large kite - possible but I I must say I was discounting wild birds in a back garden in town. I had a glimpse of a large eagle yesterday from my garden on the outskirts of the town but apart from being able to say it was an eagle and not a vulture (!) , no further ID since it disappeared over the hill and could not be relocated.
Singing Chiffchaff in Aberaeron yesterday,, 16th March. Not the first but an indication of things to come!
