Soar-y-Mynydd and Doethie

More kite surveying today in the hills above Tregaron. The number of kites nesting in the area appears to be a lot lower than it was 25 years ago. Numbers of ravens too are well down with several old sites seemingly unoccupied. Not difficult to see why either - no sheep!! In the Doethie the river has been fenced along its whole length (presumably at huge expense and using some sort of conservation grant) and yet the only three sheep I saw were inside the fence as the gates had been propped open!

On a more positive note there was a Yellowhammer calling by Pen-y-Gurnos and the Great Grey Shrike was still present on the Ceredigion side of the Upper Tywi along with another Yellowhammer, loads of Meadow Pipits, Siskins and Crossbills.
