BLACK GUILLEMOT

Funny how things do not always go to plan. Said goodby to my guests. Back home for a late lunch. Get a lovely fire going. Settle down for the football. Phone call. Chris Bird. Black Guillemot off College Rocks, Aberystwyth. Just had to get down there! Meet up with Chris, Meurig and Russell and see the bird.
What a lucky sighting. Chris first saw it when it was miles out and it flew steadily in from the north-west and amazingly it settled not too far from the prom.
The previous one was also seen from the prom, by Harry Pepper on 25th May, 2009 and that was the first record since 1987. It remains a scarce Ceredigion species.
(Got back home for the goal.)
