Springwatch

Yesterday afternoon Buster and I watched a tv helicopter from our favourite bench on Foel Fawr as it surveyed Ynys-hir like a giant dragon-fly. Later, local folk were invited to an open evening at the Springwatch Village which has sprung up on the lane approaching the reserve. At a guess I would say about 60 or 70 of us turned up and listened to some of the production team explain what they were hoping to achieve during their three week stay here. I thought it was a very good move on their part to involve the community and I must say, they seemed very concerned that disruption to our daily lives is kept to a minimum.

If you're not careful you start to take all this for granted - the "Big Hill" the magnificent views of the Dyfi Estuary, the thick, lush forests of Cwm Einion and Ysgubor y Coed - so it's nice when visitors remind us of just how stunning this area is. I think we were all flattered as one after the other our BBC guests enthused over Ynys-hir and the surrounding countryside that we live in.
I'm out in it every day but I can't wait to see it on the tele now!
