Spotted Flycatchers

3 Spotted Flycatchers fledged on 26th June from a favourite nest site on our house near Ystrad Meurig. I’ve just found them today in a copse nearby feeding independently with one adult in the area. We usually have two or three nests in the garden but this year only one and they have not had a second brood. Is this a worrying decline in productivity?

On the positive side I recorded two or more SFs in the 2 Atlas squares I surveyed inland from Aberporth.

It would be interesting to know if anyone else has recorded second broods this year and is there still time for them to have a go this summer?
