Ynyslas turn
Hearing of good numbers of cory's and sooty shearwaters off the south west recently I had a two hour sea-watch at Ynyslas turn this morning between 6.15 and 8.15am (more in hope than anticipation). As always, no unusual shearwaters but in the 2 hours some 4,500 manx shearwaters flew north. At 7.10am a close great skua flew steadily north and later, at 7.55 an arctic skua. A flock of 7 dunlin flew north accompanied with what could only have been a stint but at 350m range there was no way of telling which one. Other odds and ends included 8 common scoter north and two sandwich terns. A glutton for punishment, I may have another go tomorrow if the weather is anywhere near reasonable.
