Seawatching at Borth

Another early morning, sea-watching at Ynyslas turn and then at Borth (the midges at Ynyslas turn were unbearable). From 5.45am till roughly 7.30 220 manx shearwaters per minute were heading north with numbers dropping to 130 a minute until it slowed right down at 8.20. Based on the numbers per minute approximately 30,000 flew north. Very little else was moving though a little egret flying slowly over the sea 100m off-shore was a nice suprise. I must assume that it is still a bit early for balearic shearwaters though small numbers have been off the south coast and there was one off Borth a week or so ago.
